LANSING, WV (SWVO) – Visitors to New River Gorge National Park and Preserve may encounter temporary changes when accessing the Canyon Rim Visitor Center as a paving project continues in the area.

According to the National Park Service, the West Virginia Division of Highways is working on a paving project outside the visitor center. The work began Sept. 15 and is expected to continue over the coming days.

During the project, the entrance to the Canyon Rim Visitor Center from U.S. Route 19 may be periodically closed.

If the entrance is closed, visitors can access the visitor center by taking Lansing-Edmond Road, the next road north. Drivers should turn right onto Lansing-Edmond Road and then right at the next intersection onto Fayette Station Road.

Drivers should immediately bear right at the fork and stay right at the following intersection. The visitor center will then be located on the right.

The National Park Service is asking visitors for patience while the paving work is underway.
