WEST VIRGINIA (SWVO) – The West Virginia Department of Tourism has released its 2026 fall foliage projection map and announced plans to provide weekly updates throughout the fall season.

Beginning in mid-September, the department will update the map each week with current assessments of fall color across different regions of West Virginia. The updates are intended to help residents and visitors plan trips around peak foliage conditions.

The department is also launching the autumn edition of its Almost Heaven Swing BINGO challenge, known as “SWINGO.”

The challenge includes nearly 60 Almost Heaven swing locations across the state. Participants can register for a digital BINGO card through the West Virginia Department of Tourism’s website.

Anyone who participated in the spring or summer SWINGO challenges will need to register again to receive a fall card.

Participants can visit swing locations that match categories on their cards and check in using their mobile devices through the Bandwango travel platform.

Players who complete five spots in a row will receive a custom Almost Heaven swing sticker. Those who complete the entire card will receive a fall-themed wooden Almost Heaven swing picture frame.

Additional information about the SWINGO challenge is available at the Department of Tourism’s Almost Heaven swings webpage. Information about fall events and travel planning across West Virginia is also available through the department’s fall tourism webpage.
