WEST VIRGINIA (SWVO) – Multiple school districts across West Virginia will operate on modified schedules Monday, Feb. 16, 2026, with some counties closed to students and others observing non-instructional days.
Several counties will not have students in attendance due to professional learning or staff development days. Those counties include Calhoun, Doddridge, Gilmer, Greenbrier, Jackson, Lincoln, Marion, Monongalia, Nicholas, Pocahontas, Randolph, Ritchie, Roane, Tucker, Tyler, Webster, Wirt, Wood and Wyoming counties.
In addition, Hampshire County Schools will be closed Monday.
Some counties are observing calendar-related days with no classes scheduled for students, including Morgan County.
Each county board of education sets its own academic calendar and determines when to schedule professional development days, non-traditional instruction days or holiday breaks. As a result, school operations vary across the state.
Parents and guardians are encouraged to confirm specific details with their local school district regarding staff reporting times, extracurricular activities and any previously scheduled events.
Other counties not listed are expected to operate on their normal schedule unless otherwise announced by local officials.
