GAULEY BRIDGE, W.VA. (SWVO) – A piece of Gauley Bridge history is welcoming overnight guests once again. The town’s former railroad station, built in 1893, has officially reopened as a cozy Airbnb rental.
Originally constructed on the Kanawha and Michigan Railroad line, the depot later served the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway before train service ceased in 1958.
Since then, the building has seen multiple uses—first as a fire station for the Gauley Bridge Volunteer Fire Department, then as the town hall.

The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.
Now, after decades of service to the community, the historic depot has a new life as a unique lodging option for visitors to the area.
“Enjoy a nice and cozy stay in the historic Gauley Bridge train station,” the host writes on the Airbnb listing.

The renovated space includes one bedroom, one bathroom, and a private entrance. It’s one of two units inside the old depot.
The property is located within easy driving distance of several outdoor destinations, including Hawks Nest State Park (5 miles), Cathedral Falls (2 miles), the New River Gorge Bridge (15 miles), and Babcock State Park (17 miles).
