LANSING, W.VA. (SWVO) – The Fayette Station Bridge has officially reopened in the New River Gorge after undergoing a redecking over the winter.

The bridge reopened to traffic on March 28, just in time for the spring season.

The bridge is part of Fayette Station Road, which used to be the main north-south thoroughfare in the area. The road used to be two-way instead of the current one-way traffic flow.

There were two communities along the river by this road, Fayette on the north side, and South Fayette on the south side.

Now, the road serves as a top destination for visitors to New River Gorge National Park & Preserve to take in different angles of the famous New River Gorge Bridge and the river.
